How to Be a Better Pet Owner

Cockapoo Puppies: Finding A Responsible Breeder

If you are in the market for a new puppy, there are not many as cute as a sweet little cockapoo. A cockapoo is a mix of a cocker spaniel and a poodle, so it is sure to be adorable, intelligent, and fun to play with. These curly little puppies are not likely to become more than 25 pounds at most, though most stay far below that weight. Cockapoos are incredible family dogs, known for their hypoallergenic coats. If you find a breeder offering cockapoo puppies for sale, you may be tempted to quickly buy one, but how do you know if you have found a breeder you can trust? Here are a few signs that you have found a reliable and responsible cockapoo puppy breeder.

They Offer Information

A good cockapoo breeder will offer you loads of information ranging from the type of food they feed the puppies as they grow to specific details about both of the puppy's parents. You should gather a good idea of how big the dog will get, any genetic health issues that could arise, the vet that they will visit as a puppy, and any other information you feel is pertinent. A good breeder has done their due diligence, so they should have absolutely nothing to hide. They will also be knowledgable about the puppies they have bred and put up for sale.

They Ask You Questions

A good breeder will not let their puppies go to just anyone. Hence, they will probably ask you a lot of questions to see if you are someone who will provide a good home for a dog. They may ask if your yard is fenced, if you have young children at home, your history with dogs, and your future plans. Since there are only so many puppies in each litter, many good breeders are choosy about who they will sell a puppy to.

You Have to Wait

Since you are going through a responsible breeder and not a puppy mill, you will likely have to wait months for a puppy. A breeder who always has several puppies to choose from is probably not going through healthy mediums.

Unfortunately, not every dog breeder knows what they are doing, or is doing it out of a love for the breed. Make sure that you buy puppies from a reputable breeder so that you do not support sketchy individuals. Once you find a reliable breeder, share the word! Many people are searching for an adorable cockapoo puppy to love and care for. Enjoy yours!
